Jordan Land is a digital artist and designer often known by her online alias “Featherheartist.” She pursued her higher education at George Mason University and graduated in the fall of 2023 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design and a minor in Business. Her main mediums include graphic design, digital and traditional illustration, and photography. She also broadens her breadth of work by constantly experimenting with various different media as a hobby.
While being born in the town of Humble, Texas, their true humble beginnings and life have developed in the suburban town of South Riding, Virginia. Land’s life has been shaped through their experiences growing up in the DC area and the ever-evolving social and political climate that comes with it. Though her town mainly consisted of middle class families, she was exposed to a variety of cultures, political views, and lifestyles from her neighbors and local community. Greatly influenced by her being a part of the LGBT+ community, she has developed a great desire to help out others in her communities through volunteer work and supporting other artists and individuals.
From an early life, Jordan Land’s passion for the arts in all of its forms, she has explored countless mediums from the visual to the performing arts throughout her life. Growing up, it wasn’t hard to see that she carried a great passion for the arts, as she incorporated art into every aspect of her academics and life. She graduated from Freedom High School with an advanced diploma. Some of her notable academic achievements were earning three varsity letters (athletics, performing arts, and community service.) Upon graduation, she received three honor cords for her achievements in the National Art Honors Society for using her artistic skills to serve the local community and the Quill and Scroll Honors Society for her editorial position on a NSPA Pacemaker award winning yearbook staff as well as recognition as a Girl Scout Ambassador. Throughout her time in National Art Honors Society and Girl Scouts, she has created artworks, murals, and other community projects. Outside of her academics and freelance work, she spends a majority of her time volunteering for various projects and organizations.
While she has had many years of experience being a freelance illustrator, Land has worked with dozens of clients on many unique commissions. Some of her notable works have been designing Youtube thumbnails for small content creators, creating a logo for a costume studio, t-shirt designs for a startup apparel company, and creating a cover for a podcast episode in which she was interviewed.
Their business background and experience working as a freelance illustrator since 2016 has given Jordan early exposure of how to conduct herself professionally, how to establish a self-marketing strategy, and the invaluable experience of learning the ins and outs of working with clients on projects. While she will be a fresh face in the corporate art crowd, she hopes that all of her previous business experiences and adaptability will give her the right start to begin her professional career. She has always taken her life motto, “Life is forever a work in progress, make it your masterpiece,” to heart and she uses this motivation to drive herself to create her best work.
